DentStat

Data methodology

DentStat is a data site that processes public data to present the current state of dental clinics across South Korea based on facts. Operated by Osamil Inc..

Data sources

  • HIRA hospital information service: institution name, location, coordinates, opening date, number of practitioners (type codes 41 dental hospital, 51 dental clinic).
  • HIRA detailed institution information service: hours, reception hours, departments, transport, equipment, special care (TMJ, dental care for people with disabilities, etc.) and facility information.
  • HIRA non-covered treatment fee information: the source of regional price aggregates by treatment (KOGL Type 1, attribution required).
  • Korea National Railway urban rail station data: used to calculate station proximity (station coordinates).

Current data as of October 9, 2026.

Freshness and updates

  • Every day HIRA hospital information is rechecked automatically: newly opened clinics are added, and institutions that can no longer be found (closed, relocated, etc.) are removed from lists and statistics.
  • Last sync: October 9, 2026 (basis for openings and closures).
  • Detailed information such as hours, departments, transport and equipment is based on the March 31, 2026 snapshot.

Aggregation

  • Regional statistics count only institutions not confirmed as closed in that district.
  • Specialist counts use the dental specialist value (detySdrCnt) provided by HIRA as is.
  • Station distance is the straight-line distance between the station and clinic coordinates. Walking time is an estimate: straight-line distance × a detour factor of 1.3, at about 4 km/h.

Non-covered price statistics

  • The source is HIRA non-covered treatment fee information (KOGL Type 1). Prices of individual institutions are not stored or published; only aggregate statistics are.
  • National statistics (dental clinics): the minimum, maximum, average and median amounts per item for dental clinics from HIRA's annual statistical tables, published as is (official values, sample size not disclosed).
  • Provincial statistics: regional figures from the same tables.
  • Own aggregation for dental hospitals: our aggregation of the institution-level reports of dental hospitals (type 41) from HIRA's public API, shown with the sample size (N). Groups with fewer than 5 institutions are excluded.
  • Price data as of July 6, 2026; reloaded at least once a year in line with the publication cycle.

Publishing principles

  • Facts only. No evaluations, recommendations by quality or rankings of any clinic.
  • No per-clinic non-covered fees are published; only regional and institution-type aggregates.
  • Reviews and ratings from map platforms are not collected or republished without permission.
